THE VIRGINIA STATE BAR RULES OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT REQUIRE ALL ATTORNEYS TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT AND DISCLAIMER TO THEIR CASE RESULTS.

SETTLEMENTS AND VERDICTS IN ALL CASES DEPEND ON VARIOUS FACTORS AND CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH ARE UNIQUE TO EACH CASE. THEREFORE, PAST RESULTS IN CASES ARE NOT A GUARANTEE OR PREDICTION OF SIMILAR RESULTS IN FUTURE CASES WHICH THE FIRM AND ITS LAWYERS MAY UNDERTAKE.

Grooms v. Stevens

Augusta County Circuit Court 2006: My client was a passenger in a Jeep driven by his brother when the defendant drove up beside them at a stop light in Waynesboro. The Grooms brothers tried to elude the defendant by driving down several back roads. Eventually the defendant pulled alongside and forced the Jeep off the road. My client was ejected as the Jeep rolled several times. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and was hospitalized for over 6 months and he never fully recovered. Tragically he passed away from other causes before the trial. At trial the defendant argued that the Grooms were as much to blame as him. However the Augusta County jury returned a verdict for my client’s estate for $1.5 million compensatory damages and $250,000 in punitive damages.
